El Segundo Recreation
El Segundo, with it's strong tax base and corporate sponsors, has accomplished much for being largely isolated between the refinery and the airport over it's formative years. Amenities include a library, a recently renovated seniors' center, a golf course, a swimming pool, a driving range and about half a dozen parks. The city's recreational department offers many activities for children, teens and adults. Nearby coastal cities include Marina Del Rey, Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, Venice and Santa Monica just a short drive away. Homeowners enjoy sunbathing, surfing, swimming and boating at these and other coastal cities in close proximity. El Segundo is also close to the Getty Museum, Hollywood Park and Hollywood is about 9 miles drive. Twelve miles away is the Universal Studios, Los Angeles Convention Center and the Staples Center conveniently accessible by freeway or via the LA Metro Rail.
